Dexter enjoys the FIFO lifestyle, part of his new Heavy Diesel apprenticeship with Blue Tongue and Emeco.

“The reason I took on the Advanced Group Training Program was to expand my skills and learn more about different machines instead of just working on Light Vehicles,” Dexter said.

“I wanted to explore more of what Heavy Duty is all about.”

What are your tips for a FIFO lifestyle?

“My tip would probably be to socialise with other people because once you get to know the people you work with, they will help you and guide you through as much as they can with their knowledge and skills.”

What’s been the best part of your journey?

“The wage!”

“And that I can have a week off continuously break instead of just two days and then back to work.”

What do you love about working at Emeco?

“Emeco has a family-oriented culture – you just get to work with a lot of friendly people.”

“Some employers don’t really care about their employees.”

“Emeco just helps you in general with whatever they can do.”

What do you like about working onsite?

“I love operating the equipment because you get to see and feel what it’s like to be in a big machine instead of a small vehicle.”

How has your experience with Blue Tongue been?

“Everyone is good around Blue Tongue.”

“They always try to help you as much as they can, and if you don’t know what the goal is or having trouble with something, they will try their best to make it work for you.”

“I would recommend people to Blue Tongue because they will help you as they have helped me!”
